Good to know
Normal vs DangerousNormal permissions are granted automatically at install time. Dangerous permissions touch user privacy or device control and require a runtime prompt on Android 6.0+.
Signature onlySignature permissions are granted only to apps signed with the same certificate as the declaring app. Third-party apps can never get them.
Declare in manifestEvery permission must be declared in AndroidManifest.xml with <uses-permission android:name="..." /> before the runtime request will work.
Scoped storageSince Android 10, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE no longer gives broad file access. Use scoped storage or the Storage Access Framework instead.

Tool Introduction

AndroidManifest.xml declares every permission your app needs. This reference lists the most common permissions with their protection level and what they actually let your app do, so you can declare the right ones and explain them to users.

Search by permission constant or by purpose, filter by protection level, and click any row to read its description.
